Quantity or Quality? Granting added value to tissue products
In the converting field, one of the important objectives for machine manufacturers is offering the market the instruments to be able to grow and improve, to the advantage of the entire production chain. As has happened in other fields in the course of the last few years, the tissue field, too, has felt the consequences of the policy applied by some converting companies to follow, and in some cases also in a very evident way, the initiatives of the leading companies by offering me too-style products/machines, practically identical to those offered by larger producers but positioned at a lower price level with respect to the high range technology offered by the market leaders.
Quality makes the difference. This is certainly one of the cornerstones of Fabio Perini S.p.A., a company that makes being in the vanguard a must, an unquestionable foundation of its strategy, where offering a high and qualified level of technology is fruit of the experience and knowledge in the field. For over 40 years present on the national and international market, the company has always offered solutions for the converting industry, guaranteeing a 360° service. If today it is important for converters to obtain profit margins adequate for guaranteeing survival in a constantly more aggressive market of price wars, we must also not forget that in some cases the shortest road is not always the most valid or the simplest. Some short-term choices bear consequences for future choices. One of the main dilemmas that converters must answer concerns the choice of quality versus quantity.
The speech held in Miami, USA, by Fabio Perini S.p.A. during the Tissue World Americas show was focused on supplying practical examples and developments aimed at enhancing the quality and aesthetic aspect of tissue products, overcoming well known production expectations with a higher finished product quality and guaranteeing maximum flexibility. In the realm of converting, technical details have been developed in these last few years to do away with the use of edge embossing wheels, very frequent in the North American market. Improvements also concerning web handling or new ply embossing and gluing systems allow enhancing the product’s aesthetic appeal. At the same time, the possibility of faster roll changes allows optimizing production and enables quicker answers to the growing requests by retailers, making the entire converting line flexible. Furthermore, the new single-strip core technology, with consequent reduction of the quantity of coreboard used for the production of consumer rolls, or the CoreLess technology in the industrial segment for the production of rolls with or without a core brings savings in raw materials in respect of the machine’s production efficiency.
For Fabio Perini S.p.A., granting added value to the finished product means high converting line efficiency. Hence, the novel embossing solutions proposed during the show open new business possibilities and new market segments where the product’s marketing – whether it be a toilet roll, a kitchen towel or a table napkin – makes the difference.
